Galle wakes up to a shower of golden rays each dawn. Blessings of the sun god, ensuring the winds, the rains, and the harvest from the soil and hope for the people. 130 years ago Galle had a blessing of another nature. A blessing that brought in it's wake the spirit of love, kindness, human values, knowledge and the empowerment of those who were touched by it.

May 1876 saw the birth of a school that was renowned for it's contribution to the nation. Like the sun god at dawn showering Galle with rays of learning each passing day. In 1882 it was named Richmond College.
